Nicaragua
The
Nicaraguan Association for Community Integration (ASNIC), an affiliate
of Inclusion International, orgnanized an election monitoring effort by
115 citizens with disabilities as part of election monitoring for the
November 2001 Presidential elections. The monitors included 12 men and
women with intellectual disabilities, the first time in any nation where
citizens with intellectual disabilities served as election monitors. (Funded
by IFES under a grant from Sweden).
