General Right to Vote
Constitution
(1985)

  • Article 1, section (2) states: "Every person with Dutch nationality shall be equally eligible for appointment to public office."
  •  Article 1, section (10) states: "Every person with Dutch nationality resident in Aruba shall have an equal right to elect the members of the general representative bodies and to stand for election as a member of those bodies, subject to limitations prescribed by Country Ordinance.”

Exclusion Based on Mental Disability
Constitution
(1985)

  • Article 3, section (5), subsection (2) states: "The following persons shall not be entitled to vote...(b) anyone who has been deemed legally incompetent by irrevocable judgment of a court of law because of mental disorder.”
