General Right to Vote
Constitution
(1973)

  • Article 50 section (2) states, "The members of the People's Assembly are elected by general, secret, direct, and equal ballot in accordance with the provisions of the election law."
  • Article 54 states, "Voters are citizens of at least 18 years of age who are listed in the civil status register and who meet the conditions specified in the election law."

Exclusion Based on Intellectual Disability

  • Article 4 states: "The right to vote is withheld from...(b) those who are mentally ill, during the period of their illness."
