Best Practices
Ghana
Since 2000, IFES and Ghanain
disability and electoral organizations have worked in partnership
to promote the full participation of people with disabilities in Ghana's elections.
Activities, which
are ongoing, have included the election monitioring by 80 Ghanaians with disabilities
(the first observation
effort of its kind in the world), and the design and pilot testing of a tactile
ballot to allow blind voters to vote in secret. (Funded by IFES under grants
from Sweden and Finland).
