• Article 9 section d) states: "Every citizen of the Dominican Republic has the duty to vote, provided that they are legally capable of performing the voting act."

Voter Assistance by Other Citizens

• Article 121 states: "When an elector is unable to vote without assistance, he may, with the authorization of the president of the electoral college, use the help of an individual he trusts, shall accompany him into the voting booth or recess or closed room and prepare his ballot, without allowing any other person to be close enough to see or hear whatever is done or said while the said ballot is prepared."

• In case of blind, paralyzed citizens or those citizens who have had an amputation, the poll worker has the authority to permit an assistant of the voter's choosing to enter the voting booth and help the voter vote. P 13
