General Right to Vote
Constitution:
Article 51 states: "Citizens of Ecuador have the right to elect
and be elected
"
Article 52 states: "Voting is universal, equal, direct and secret.
It is compulsory for those who can read and write and voluntary for the illiterate."

Article 37 states: "They cannot be registered

Exclusion Based on Disability
Constitution:
Article 100 states: "The President of the Republic will lose his
powers and will give up his office if
(d) The National Congress declares
the President physically or mental handicapped."
Article 101, section 2 states: "The following are the cases of temporary
inability of the President to perform his/her functions
(a) An illness
or other such circumstance
"

Article 40 states: "The physical, mental, or legal inability of
a candidate should be sufficiently accredited before a qualified and verified
Judge of Rights by the respective Tribunals, with the exception of the cases
provided in the following article. Including this justification the party will
be able to solicit the Tribunal for a change of candidates, of those that will
only be rejected by the Electoral Organizations on the supposition that they
can't fulfill the requisites in as for age, expulsions, and disaffiliations.
Upon producing the rejection, the party will be able to replace them once, in
a three day period of time upon receiving the notification."
