General Right to Vote
Electoral Law:
(2001: Public Elections Law)
Article 2, section (1) states, "A person is entitled to vote in
an election of a Connétable, or Centenier, of a parish if the name of
the person is on the electoral register for an electoral district within the
parish, being the register in force for the election."
Article 2, section (2) states, "A person is entitled to vote in
an election of one or more Deputies of an electoral district if the name of
the person is on the electoral register for the electoral district, being the
register in force for the election."
Article 5, section (1) states, "A person is entitled on a particular
day to have his name included on the electoral register for an electoral district
if on that day (a) the person is at least 18 years old, (b) the person is ordinarily
resident in that district
"
Article 25 states, "In every public election the poll shall be by
secret ballot."

Article 35, section (1) states, "In the case of a person entitled
to vote who is ill, disabled or illiterate, the Autorisé or an Adjoint
may take such measures as he considers appropriate for taking his vote, provided
secrecy in voting is maintained."

Article 35, section (2) states, "Those measures [referring to section
(1)] may include a visit to the person."
Article 38 states, "A person entitled to vote at a poll for a public
election is entitled to do so before the poll if
(b) the person has commitments,
or a disability, that will prevent him from attending personally at a polling
station on polling day."
