The European Commision for Democracy through Law (also known as the Venice Commission) of the Council of Europe provided a revised interpretative declaration on its Code of Good Practices in Electoral Matters  (2002) regarding the political participation of persons with disabilities. It was formally adopted by the Council for Democratic Elections and by the full Venice Commission in December 2011.
